The Schützenpanzer kurz, Hotchkiss (Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle, Short Version, Hotchkiss) was for the first years of the newly founded German Army, the Bundeswehr, the typical vehicle of the armoured reconnaissance units. The Schützenpanzer lang, Gruppe, HS 30 (Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle, Long Version, Troop Carrier, HS 30) was at the same time the typical vehicle of the
armoured infantry. Both tanks served in many variants in active service up to the 1980s. This publication describes both vehicle families in historical and technical detail in many hitherto unpublished photographs. The ancestors of the "Marder"!
