Following D-Day, Operation Totalize was a ground attack by the 1st Canadian Army, plus British and Polish forces to force a breakout from the Normandy beachhead along the Cane-Falaise road. Operation Tractable was the follow-up to allow the British 2nd Army to push the Germans back to the south of France, thus creating the famous "Falaise Gap"
